Oldboy

Oldboy messed me up in the best way. I went in not knowing much, and that plot just kept hitting harder and harder. It’s like every time I thought I had a grip on what was going on, it twisted again. The way it slowly peels back the layers of what happened to Oh Dae-su and why he was imprisoned for fifteen years—man, I wasn’t ready. The story feels brutal but weirdly personal, and it doesn't hold your hand. You just get dropped into this dark, angry world and have to keep up.

Also, that hallway fight scene? Unreal. It didn’t feel flashy or overdone—it was messy, like a real fight, but somehow still so cool to watch. The whole movie has this intense energy, like something’s always just under the surface, ready to explode. I haven’t seen The Shawshank Redemption or played any revenge-style video games or whatever, so I don’t have that kind of comparison, but Oldboy felt unique to me. Dark, twisted, and somehow still emotional. I was honestly stunned by the ending—I didn’t see it coming at all.
